Talk by Marc Mayer, Ottawa 2012

On behalf of the LPM Collectors’ Group, I am very pleased to invite you to join us on Thursday 8 March 2012 at 7 p.m. at the LPM Gallery for a presentation by Marc Mayer, Director of the National Gallery of Canada.

Marc Mayer was appointed as Director of the National Gallery of Canada in December 2008 and, prior to this, he served as Director of le Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal from 2004 to 2008. He was Deputy Director of the Brooklyn Museum in New York City from 2001 to 2004, Director of the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto from 1998 to 2001, and Curator of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo from 1994 to 1998.

He was Head of Visual Arts with the Cultural Services of the Canadian Embassy in Paris, and was a correspondent for the New York periodical Rizzoli’s The Journal of Art from 1990 to 1993. Marc began his career in 1986 as Assistant to the Director and was later Assistant Director of the 49th Parallel Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art in New York, where he worked from1986 to 1990.

The annual membership fee for the LPM Collectors’ Group is $50/year for adults and $25/year for students and members are encouraged to bring a guest to each session for no extra cost.
